Man hospitalized following Ontonagon Township snowmobile accident

ONTONAGON TOWNSHIP, MI--   An Illinois man has been injured in a snowmobile accident in Ontonagon County.

Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched Wednesday around 11:50 a.m. to Trail 12 near Woodspur Road in Ontonagon Township.  They say Michael Faucher of Lemont, Illinois was negotiating a curve when he lost control and was thrown from his machine.

Deputies, Sonco ambulance personnel, and Michigan State Police troopers rescued Faucher from the trail and took him to Aspirus Ontonagon Hospital.  He was later transferred to Aspirus Wausau for further treatment.

Speed is considered to be a factor in the accident.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
