Speed a factor in Negaunee Township crash

NEGAUNEE TOWNSHIP, MI--   Three people were taken to the hospital, following a two-vehicle accident in Negaunee Township.

Thursday around 10 a.m. troopers from the Negaunee Post were dispatched to US-41 near Brebner Road. They say Crystal Girard, 34, of Gwinn had been eastbound in the outside lane when a westbound Jeep driven by Lori Raisanen, 43, of Wisconsin spun out, crossed over the centerline, and slid into the front of Girard’s vehicle backwards.

Girard, Raisanen, and a passenger in Raisanen’s vehicle were taken to UPHS Marquette for treatment of their injuries.

Raisanen was cited for traveling too fast for conditions.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
