Snowmobile-vehicle crash in Ontonagon County injures one

ONTONAGON, MI--   A Wisconsin man was injured after his snowmobile hit a vehicle in Ontonagon County. 

Sheriff’s deputies were called Friday around 12:15 p.m. to the intersection of Gem Hill Road and Trail #8.  They say Gene Zettler of New Richmond, Wisconsin was operating his snowmobile on the trail when he disregarded a stop sign and struck a vehicle driving through the intersection.  The vehicle then spun 180 degrees and hit the back of the snowmobile. 

Zettler was taken to Aspirus Grand View Hospital, then airlifted to Aspirus Wausau with a serious leg injury.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
