Another traffic crash in Marquette Township

MARQUETTE TOWNSHIP, MI--   Only minor injuries were reported in a two-vehicle accident Friday in Marquette Township.

Sheriff’s deputies were called around 7:05 p.m. to the intersection of Commerce Drive and US-41 West.  They say a Honda CRV driven by Eliza Groll, 21, of Marquette was eastbound on the highway and traveling too fast for conditions when she found herself unable to stop for the red light.  Her vehicle slid into the intersection and hit a southbound Chevy pickup driven by Amy Hamila, 41, of Marquette.  Both vehicles suffered major damage.

Groll was taken to UPHS Marquette for treatment.  Hamila wasn’t injured.

Michigan State Police from the Negaunee Post and the Marquette Township Fire Department assisted at the scene.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
