Car crashes into guardrail in Sands Township

SANDS TOWNSHIP, MI--   No one was injured in a single-vehicle crash in Sands Township Wednesday morning.

The Marquette County Sheriff’s Office says it happened around 7:50 a.m. on M-553 at Glasses Curve.

A Buick sedan driven by Payton Lebombard, 21, of Marquette was southbound when he lost control on the icy roadway.  The car hit a damaged guard rail, slid up, and came to rest on top of the rail.  A wrecker service had to lift the car up and off the guard rail to free it.

Lebombard wasn’t injured and no citations were issued.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
