Single-vehicle crash in Tilden Township

TILDEN TOWNSHIP, MI--   Marquette County Sheriff’s deputies say a driver was going too fast for conditions when she crashed her vehicle in Tilden Township Wednesday.

Around 1:50 p.m. Kimberly Matwyuk of Ely Township was southbound on County Road 581 near County Road PPR when she lost control of the vehicle on a slushy curve. The vehicle crossed the centerline, went into a steep ditch, hit a tree, then overturned.

Matwyuk was wearing a seat belt and wasn’t injured.

The Ishpeming Township Fire Department assisted at the scene.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
