Minor injuries in Sands crash

SANDS TOWNSHIP, MI--   Injuries were reported in a two-vehicle accident in Sands Township Tuesday.

Sheriff’s deputies were called around 8:35 a.m. to M-553 just north of the Marquette County Fairgrounds.  A sedan driven by Dominique Bougle, 23, of Escanaba was northbound in a group of vehicles when the group began to slow down due to slippery conditions.  Bougle also slowed, but lost control of her car. It crossed the centerline and hit a van driven by Craig West, 36, of Marquette.

Both drivers sustained minor injuries.

Officials say heavy snow was falling and roads were icy and slippery.  Bougle was cited for driving too fast for conditions.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
