Driver and passenger sent to hospital following Chassell Township crash

CHASSELL TOWNSHIP, MI--   Two people were injured in a traffic crash in Chassell Township Sunday. 

The Houghton County Sheriff’s Office says it happened just after 3 p.m. on US-41 near North Entry Road. An SUV driven by a 78-year-old Hancock woman had slowed down and was waiting for a vehicle to make a left-hand turn when it was rear-ended by a car driven by a 38-year-old Hancock woman.

The driver of the SUV and her 86-year-old passenger were taken to UP Health System Portage for treatment of their injuries. The driver of the car sought her own treatment.

She was cited for failure to yield.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
