Train derails in Negaunee

NEGAUNEE, MI--   Crews are putting tracks back together, after an ore train derailed in Negaunee.

WLUC-TV reports the 60-car Lake Superior and Ishpeming Railroad train left the tracks near County Road 480 Monday around 6:30 p.m. Twenty-two cars derailed and eight tipped over. The train was apparently heading to Marquette to load up with iron ore.

No one was injured in the accident, which remains under investigation.

The Department of Environmental Quality is assessing the area to identify any environmental impacts.
