Road sign struck in Negaunee Township accident

NEGAUNEE TOWNSHIP, MI--   A motorist hit a road sign during a single-vehicle crash in Negaunee Township Wednesday.

Michigan State Police were dispatched around 9 a.m. to US-41 near Link Road. They say a Ford SUV driven by a 56-year-old Kingsford woman was eastbound when she lost control of the vehicle. It drove off the south side of the highway, hit a sign, and went into the ditch.

A 21-year-old Iron Mountain woman who was in the back seat of the SUV was taken to UPHS-Bell for treatment of minor injuries.

The driver was ticketed for driving too fast for conditions.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
