One injured in Mass City snowmobile crash

MASS CITY, MI--   An Illinois woman was injured in a snowmobile accident in Ontonagon County Tuesday.

Sheriff’s officials say it happened around 2:30 p.m. on Trail #3 in Mass City.

Judi Ann Young, 74, of Beloit was riding on the trail when one of the machine’s skis caught a large chunk of ice. The snowmobile overturned and ejected Young.

She was transported to Aspirus Ontonagon Hospital for treatment of her injuries.

Officials say speed and alcohol were not factors in the crash.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
