Akron man injured in Schoolcraft Township accident

SCHOOLCRAFT TOWNSHIP, MI--   A downstate man has been injured in a snowmobile crash in Houghton County. 

Sheriff’s deputies say Saturday around 8:30 p.m. the 20-year-old from Akron was on DNR Trail #3 near Normand Road in Schoolcraft Township. He failed to negotiate a turn, left the trail, and struck an embankment.

The man was taken to Aspirus Keweenaw Hospital for treatment.

Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the accident.

The Bootjack First Responders assisted at the scene. 

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
