Multiple-vehicle crash in Sands Township

SANDS TOWNSHIP, MI--   Three vehicles were involved in a crash on M-553 in Sands Township Monday.

Sheriff’s deputies say it happened around 5:30 p.m. just north of Glasses Curve. A pickup driven by Taylor Johnson, 20, of Gwinn was southbound when she lost control of the truck on the icy roadway. She crossed into the northbound lane and hit an Escalade driven by Christopher Nelson, 32, of Marquette. The Escalade went off the road and overturned. A northbound pickup driven by Scott Lamora, 48, of Marquette was unable to avoid the collision and struck the other pickup.

Johnson and one of her passengers were taken to UPHS-Marquette for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
