Injuries reported in Menominee County motorcycle/car crash

HARRIS TOWNSHIP, MI--   Two people were injured when their motorcycle was hit by a car in Harris Township.

State Police from the Gladstone Post were called Sunday around 6:20 p.m. to US-2 & 41 near Eustice Road. They say Carney residents Eric Laurin, 34, and his wife Tera, 35, were westbound when their motorcycle collided with a car trying to turn eastbound onto the highway. The vehicle was driven by Mary Gaudette, 71, of Gladstone.

Eric Laurin was airlifted from the scene and taken to UPHS-Marquette for the treatment of multiple non-life-threatening injuries. He wasn’t wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. Tera Laurin, who was wearing a helmet, walked away with minor injuries. Gaudette was not injured.

Gaudette was found to be at fault for failing to yield the right of way.

Troopers say several members of the Bark River-Harris High School football team assisted immediately after the crash. They were at the school for pictures and an assembly.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
