No injuries in Marquette Township logging truck accident

MARQUETTE TOWNSHIP, MI--   A pickup truck was severely damaged after a load of logs fell off a logging truck in Marquette Township Monday.

The Marquette County Sheriff’s Office says it happened around 3:10 p.m. on County Road 550 near Eagles Nest Road. Corey McInerney, 22, of Escanaba was driving a truck owned by McInerney Logging Company southbound when it began to lose logs from the rear pup trailer.

Randall Bullock, 49, of Big Bay was driving a northbound pickup when he saw the logs begin to fall. He was unable to avoid the logs and drove on top of a few, while others hit the front of his vehicle. Bullock was not injured, but his truck had to be towed from the scene.

McInerney was able to reload the logs onto the trailer. He was cited for having an unsecure load.

The Marquette Township Fire Department assisted at the scene.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
