Pickup hits delivery truck in Ishpeming

ISHPEMING, MI--   Three people are hospitalized, following a two-vehicle accident in Ishpeming.

The Marquette County Sheriff’s Office says it happened Thursday around 4:40 p.m. on US-41 at North Lake Drive. A 72-year-old Ishpeming man failed to yield to eastbound highway traffic and entered the intersection from North Lake Drive. He hit a Sara Lee delivery truck driven by a 41-year-old Negaunee man.

Both vehicles suffered heavy damage.

All three occupants of the pickup truck had to be extracted with the Jaws of Life. They were taken to UPHS-Marquette with minor injuries and are in stable condition.

Eastbound traffic was blocked for about an hour while officials investigated the scene.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
