Two injured in Ely Township crash

Two people are injured following a 2-vehicle crash in Ely Township.

Marquette County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched yesterday at about 6:43pm to the intersection of US-41 West and County Road 478. Officers say a 2016 Ford Focus, driven by a 52-year old Iron Mountain woman, failed to yield to eastbound US-41 traffic and was struck by a 1998 Trailblazer, driven by a 25-year old Ishpeming woman. Both vehicle were heavily damaged in the accident. Two unidentified people in the vehicles were taken to U-P-H-S Marquette for treatment of minor injuries and are in stable condition. The 52-year old Iron Mountain woman was cited for failure to yield.

Traffic on US-41 was redirected for about 45-minutes as the accident was being investigated.

Assisting at the scene were the Ishpeming Township Fire Department and EMS, Michigan State Police, and UP Health System Bell.
