Vehicle hits horse in Marquette County

ISHPEMING TOWNSHIP, MI--   A horse had to be euthanized, after it was struck by a vehicle in Ishpeming Township Tuesday.

Sheriff’s deputies say around 7 p.m. a Dodge Grand Caravan driven by a 61-year-old Tilden Township woman was southbound on Stoneville Road near County Road 581. She collided with a horse that was loose on the road. The horse went through the windshield and came to rest partially in the passenger seat.

The driver sustained a possible shoulder injury and was taken to UPHS-Bell for treatment.

Due to the severity of the horse’s injuries it was euthanized at the scene.

Deputies were assisted by Ely Township First Responders.
