Sagola Township industrial accident claims life

SAGOLA TOWNSHIP, MI--   A worker has been killed in an industrial accident in Dickinson County.

Michigan State Police from the Iron Mountain Post were called Thursday around 10:50 a.m. to Minerick Logging on M-95 in Sagola Township. They found an employee had been injured during routine maintenance work on a vehicle.

STAR Ambulance was already on scene providing medical care. Personnel requested immediate air medivac from the scene. M-95 was temporarily closed and a landing zone was established. The worker was taken to UPHS-Marquette.

Despite all medical efforts the victim did not survive. The name of the victim is being withheld, pending notification of next of kin.

The Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office and Sagola Township Fire Department assisted at the scene.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
