Two injured in Hematite Township ATV accident

HEMATITE TOWNSHIP, MI--   Two people were taken to the hospital following an ATV rollover crash in Iron County on Saturday.

The Sheriff’s Office says it happened around 12:15 p.m. on Highway 141 near Townline Road in Hematite Township. Cody McGregor, 25, of Crystal Falls was driving the vehicle in the ditch when he lost control. The ATV rolled twice, ejecting McGregor. A passenger in the vehicle—Travis Hoenig, 29—was wearing a seat belt and remained in the ATV.

Both men were taken to Aspirus Wausau in Wisconsin for treatment of their injuries.

Officials say both alcohol and speed are believed to be factors in the accident.

The Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Michigan State Police, Aspirus Medivac, Amasa Fire Department, and Crystal Falls Fire Department.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
