Man dies in Marquette County motorcycle/deer accident

REPUBLIC TOWNSHIP, MI--   A Republic man has been killed in a motorcycle accident.

State Police from the Negaunee Post were dispatched Thursday around 6:40 a.m. to M-95 near Grosbeak Lane in Republic Township.

Preliminary investigation indicates Charles Boshears, 56, was southbound on a Harley Davidson motorcycle when he swerved to avoid a deer in the road. The bike left the roadway and appears to have collided with several trees.

Boshears was not wearing a helmet and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Anttila’s Towing, UPHS-Marquette, the Michigan State Police accident reconstructionist and the Marquette County Sheriff’s Office assisted at the scene.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
