Man in critical condition after ATV crash

TURIN TOWNSHIP, MI--   A downstate man has been seriously injured in an ATV accident in Marquette County.

Sheriff’s deputies say the crash happened Saturday at about 8:50 p.m. on County Road 444 near County Road RF in Turin Township. A 4-wheeler driven by a 70-year-old Rockford man was eastbound with another 4-wheeler driven by a 12-year-old Riverdale boy when the man’s ATV hit the left rear tire of the other vehicle. The man’s ATV rolled over and caused serious injuries.

The child was not injured.

The 70-year-old was taken to the Turin Township Fire Department, then flown to UPHS-Marquette by Valley Med Flight. He’s reported to be in critical condition.

Alcohol and speed are believed to be factors in the accident, which remains under investigation.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
