Marquette Township crash injures one

MARQUETTE TOWNSHIP, MI--   An Ishpeming man was ticketed for causing a two-vehicle accident in a new Marquette Township roundabout Tuesday.

The Marquette County Sheriff’s Office says it happened around 2:40 p.m. on US-41 at the Brickyard Road roundabout. David Schneider, 31, of Ishpeming was eastbound in a Saturn sedan when he lost control of his vehicle. It hit a GMC pickup in the roundabout driven by Elliot Conroy, 21, of Ishpeming.

The pickup hit and rolled over a guardrail on 41, then traveled down an embankment. The Saturn deflected off the truck and struck the guardrail on Brickyard Road.

Conroy sought his own treatment at UPHS-Marquette. Schneider was cited for speeding and driving while license suspended.

Deputies were assisted at the scene by Marquette Township Fire and EMS.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
