Rollover crash in Gladstone

GLADSTONE, MI--   Two people were injured in a single-vehicle rollover crash in Gladstone Tuesday morning.

Around 9:15 a.m. troopers from the Gladstone Post were dispatched to US-2 near Lakeshore Drive. They say Richard Dutton, 77, of Rapid River was northbound when he suffered a medical issue. His vehicle unintentionally sped up before Dutton lost control of it. The vehicle crossed the median and southbound lanes and rolled six or seven times.

Dutton and his passenger, Mari Dutton, 48, of Rapid River, were initially trapped, but were able to exit the vehicle under their own power.

Richard Dutton was airlifted by Valley Med Flight to UPHS-Marquette with non-life-threatening head injuries. Mari Dutton was taken to OSF St. Francis Hospital for treatment.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
