Motorcycle crashes in Marquette Township roundabout

MARQUETTE TOWNSHIP, MI--   A motorcycle driver suffered scrapes and possible broken bones when he crashed his bike in Marquette Township Sunday.

Marquette County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to US-41 near Brickyard Road around 1:45 p.m. They say a Laurium man was headed eastbound into a roundabout on his Harley Davidson when he hit the curb. The rider lost control of the bike. It hit a second curb and ejected the rider. The motorcycle then slid on its side a short distance down the paved shoulder.

The driver was not wearing a helmet. He was taken to UPHS-Marquette for treatment.

US-41 traffic was backed up for about an hour while the crash was investigated.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
