Alger County snowmobile crash claims teen's life

AUTRAIN, MI--    A downstate teen has died in a snowmobile accident in AuTrain.

Saturday around 6:15 p.m. Alger County Dispatch received several calls reporting a snowmobile accident on Trail #7. The Alger County Sheriff’s Office, Alger EMS, Rescue 21, the DNR and Guardian Flight responded.

Investigation determined the driver, 16-year-old Thomas Watson of Alma, failed to negotiate a curve and struck several trees. Watson was taken to Munising Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
