Two-vehicle crash in Breitung Township

BREITUNG TOWNSHIP, MI--   Two adults and two children were taken to the hospital following an accident in Breitung Township Tuesday.

State Police from the Iron Mountain Post say it happened at about 6:50 p.m. at the intersection of US-2 and US-141.

Troopers say 38-year-old Jamie Granquist was driving eastbound with an 11-year-old passenger when she failed to stop for a red light. Her vehicle collided with a northbound vehicle driven by 35-year-old Amber Fleming, who had a 3-year-old passenger.

The occupants of both vehicles were taken to Dickinson County Hospital for treatment of their injuries.

Troopers say alcohol was not a factor in the crash.

All persons involved were wearing seatbelts or were in an approved child restraint seat.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
