Snowmobiler injured in AuTrain Township crash

AuTRAIN TOWNSHIP, MI— A snowmobile driver is hospitalized, following an accident in Alger County.

Sheriff Matthew Waldron says Wednesday around 8:45 p.m. his office received a 911 call reporting a single-snowmobile crash on Trail #8 near Addis Lake Road in AuTrain Township.

Investigation reveals a 42-year-old woman left the trail and struck a tree. She was taken to UPHS-Marquette and is in critical condition.

Officials say alcohol and excessive speed are primary factors in the crash.

Alger EMS and Alger County Rescue 21 assisted at the scene.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
