Alger County accident leaves 4 injured, one seriously

ALGER COUNTY, MI— One person was airlifted to UPHS-Marquette following a two-vehicle crash in Alger County Sunday.

Michigan State Police from the Negaunee Post responded around 10:15 a.m. to US-41 about a mile north of the M-67 intersection.

Troopers say a 26-year-old woman was northbound when she crossed the centerline and hit a southbound vehicle driven by a 44-year-old Illinois man. The woman was taken by helicopter to UPHS-Marquette. The Illinois man and his two passengers—a 12-year-old boy and 46-year-old man—were taken to the hospital by ambulance.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
