Keweenaw crash seriously injures snowmobiler

Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched around 1:45 p.m. to Trail #3 about a half-mile south of Lac La Belle Road.

A 56-year-old snowmobiler from Kansas was driving north when he hit a woman operating a southbound snowmobile. The man was ejected from his machine and suffered serious injuries. He was taken to Aspirus Keweenaw Hospital in Laurium, then transferred to UPHS-Marquette.

Speed is believed to be a factor in the accident, which remains under investigation.
