Blast destroys Marinette County mobile home

NIAGARA, WI— Two people were seriously injured when their mobile home blew up in Niagara, Wisconsin Sunday morning.

Marinette County Sheriff Jerry Sauve says around 8:50 a.m. his office received a report of a large explosion at a home at Payette Road and Bombers Road. A man and woman in their 50s—both from the Milwaukee area—were in the mobile home at the time of the blast. The man was able to tell police he was trying to light a propane furnace that had gone out when the explosion happened.

Both victims suffered serious injuries, including severe burns. They were taken to Dickinson County Hospital, then transferred to a Wisconsin hospital.

The mobile home was a total loss and the garage was severely damaged.

Police continue to investigate the incident, but say no foul play is suspected.
