Michigan State Police looking into Ontonagon County truck/pedestrian accident

ONTONAGON, MI— State Police from the Wakefield Post continue to investigate an Ontonagon truck/pedestrian accident that happened last month.

On the morning of June 24, troopers were dispatched to the intersection of South Seventh Street and Greenland Road. Investigation revealed a 69-year-old woman from Waukesha, Wisconsin was crossing Seventh when a pickup driven by a 75-year-old Ontonagon man turned onto the street and struck her.

The woman was taken to Aspirus Ontonagon Hospital with serious injuries. She was later transferred to Aspirus Hospital in Wausau, Wisconsin and remains in a rehab facility near Milwaukee.

Officials are awaiting reports from the MSP Traffic Crash Reconstruction Unit out of Marquette. The report will then be forwarded to the Ontonagon County Prosecutor’s office for review.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
