Semi on its side closes M-26 in Houghton County Friday afternoon

PAINESDALE, MI— M-26 near Painesdale was closed for a while after a semi tipped over and lost its load Friday night.

Michigan State Police from the Calumet Post say the accident happened around 4:15 p.m. The driver—a 41-year-old Wisconsin man—was southbound and was unable to navigate a tight corner. The semi flipped onto its side, spilling wood chips onto the roadway.

M-26 at Kersearge Street was closed to traffic while officials unloaded the semi and cleaned up the spill.

The driver was taken to UPHS-Portage for treatment of minor injuries.
