UPDATE: 85-year-old killed in Wisconsin traffic accident

UPDATE, 9/16/22: Police have released the name of the man who died in the crash. He's identified as Archie Roberts, 85, of Wallace, MI.

WAGNER, WI— One person was killed in a two-vehicle crash in Marinette County Wednesday.

Sheriff’s deputies say it happened around 10:40 a.m. on County Highway X at Old Rail Road in the town of Wagner. An 85-year-old man from Wallace, Michigan was southbound on Old Rail Road when he failed to stop at a stop sign and entered the intersection. His vehicle was struck by an eastbound pickup truck.

The driver of the southbound vehicle wasn’t wearing a seat belt and sustained fatal injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the pickup was taken to Aurora Bay Area Medical Center for non-life-threatening injuries. Her passenger was uninjured. Both were wearing seat belts.

The accident remains under investigation.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
