Police search for man believed to be involved in fatal Marinette County crash

BEAVER, WI— One person is dead, following a single-vehicle accident in Marinette County.

Sheriff Jerry Sauve says around 4 p.m. Wednesday his office received a report of a power pole on fire on 3rd Road between State Highway 64 and County Road P in the town of Beaver.

Responding deputies say the vehicle was southbound when it left the road, entered the ditch, hit the pole, and came to rest in a corn field. A 53-year-old man was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene. Two other men walked to a nearby farm and were later taken to the hospital for treatment. A fourth man left the scene on foot and has not been found.

Sauve says significant follow-up work is needed on the case, which remains under investigation.

Names and further information will be released at a later time.
