Dickinson County accident claims three lives

WAUCEDAH TOWNSHIP, MI— The Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the cause of a fatal crash in Waucedah Township Sunday.

Deputies say it happened around 3:05 p.m. on Foster City Road near Burgeois Farm Road. A northbound Ford Taurus crossed into the southbound lane and struck a Buick Rendezvous. The driver of the Rendezvous braked, but couldn’t avoid the crash.

The occupants of the Taurus—a 52-year-old woman and 56-year-old male passenger, both from Felch—were pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Rendevouz—a 46-year-old Norway man—was also killed.

A 39-year-old woman from Kingsford was taken to a Green Bay hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. A minor child was airlifted to Marshfield Hospital in Wisconsin in critical condition, and another minor child was taken to Marshfield Medical Center-Dickinson for treatment of minor injuries.

Speed is believed to be a factor in the crash.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
