Wintry conditions to blame for fatal Mackinac County crash, officials say

MORAN TOWNSHIP, MI— Two people were killed in a traffic crash in Mackinac County Saturday.

Sheriff’s deputies say it happened just before 1 p.m. on US-2, about 13 miles west of St. Ignace in Moran Township. Officials say the driver lost control of a vehicle and struck another.

Two passengers from Ohio were killed in the crash. Four other people were injured and taken to the hospital for treatment.

US-2 between St. Ignace and Brevort was closed between 1:30 and 7 p.m. as officials investigated the crash.

They say high winds, blowing snow, and slippery conditions were factors in the accident.
