Sands Township snowmobile crash injures Genesee County woman

SANDS TOWNSHIP, MI— A downstate woman was injured in a snowmobile accident in Sands Township Saturday.

Marquette County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched around 4:40 p.m. to Trail 8, just west of County Road NC.

They say a Genesee County woman misjudged an intersection, hit a snowbank, and was thrown from her snowmobile. She was taken to UPHS-Marquette for treatment of her injuries.

The crash remains under investigation.

Assisting at the scene were the Sands Township Fire Department, UPHS EMS, the Michigan DNR, and other snowmobilers.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
