One killed in Iron County trail groomer crash

IRON COUNTY, MI— A Wisconsin man was killed last week when his snowmobile hit a groomer south of Crystal Falls.

The Michigan Department of Natural Resources says Thursday around 11:45 a.m., Todd Lisowe, 42, of New Holstein was traveling south on Snowmobile Trail UP 113 between US-2 and Stager Lake Road. He was the first rider with three other snowmobilers headed to Pembine, Wisconsin from Big Bay.

Lisowe collided with a northbound trail groomer that was actively grooming the trail. He was pronounced dead at the scene. No other injuries were reported.

Conservation officers say excessive speed is believed to be the cause of the crash.

It was the 15th snowmobile fatality in Michigan this winter.
