Snow drift causes accident in Ishpeming Township

ISHPEMING TOWNSHIP, MI— No injuries were reported, following an accident involving a semi tractor-trailer in Marquette County on Saturday.

Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched around 1 p.m. to US-41 near County Road 496 Southeast in Ishpeming Township.

They say the driver—a 48-year-old Mass City man—lost control of the semi when he hit a snow drift on the road. The semi went into the ditch and the trailer blocked the westbound lane of the highway.

Assisting in the incident were the Ishpeming Township Fire Department, Crossroads Truck Repair, and Marquette County Central Dispatch. West Ishpeming Auto Value also helped with cleaning up a fuel leak.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
