Alcohol likely a factor in Houghton County rollover accident

HOUGHTON COUNTY, MI— A Pelkie man was injured in a single-vehicle crash in Houghton County on Sunday.

Sheriff’s deputies responded around 4:30 a.m. to Tapiola Road near the Baraga County line. The vehicle had rolled over.

The 29-year-old driver was taken to Baraga County Memorial Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police say alcohol is believed to be a factor in the crash.

The Houghton County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Otter Lake Fire and First Responders, Bay Ambulance, and Superior Service Towing.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
