One person critically injured in Dickinson county side by side crash

SAGOLA TOWNSHIP, MI— An Iron Mountain man suffered significant injuries in an ATV crash in Sagola Township Sunday.

Around 1:20 a.m., the Dickinson County Sheriff's Office received an automated alert from an Apple iPhone that its owner had been in a severe crash and wasn't answering their phone.

Deputies were dispatched to Turner Road. They say a 20-year-old man was driving a Polaris RZR eastbound on Turner Road when the vehicle went off the roadway, rolled over, and struck a tree.

The driver was taken to UPHS-Marquette, where he remains in critical condition.

The accident remains under investigation.

Assisting at the scene were the Sagola Township Fire Department, STAR Ambulance, Integrity Ambulance, and Town & Country Towing.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
