Marquette County accident claims one life

CHAMPION TOWNSHIP, MI— A Marquette woman was killed in a two-vehicle crash in Champion Township Friday afternoon.

The Marquette County Sheriff’s Office says it happened around 3:30 p.m. on US-41 near County Road AKE.

A 59-year-old Negaunee man was eastbound in a pickup truck when a westbound SUV turned into his path.

A passenger in the SUV—50-year-old Tara Gluski of Marquette—was killed. The driver of the SUV and another passenger in that vehicle were taken to the hospital with serious injuries. The driver of the pickup suffered only minor injuries.

Deputies believe poor weather conditions were a factor in the crash.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
