WELLS TOWNSHIP, MI— A woman drowned at the Boney Falls Campground in Wells Township on Thursday.
The Marquette County Sheriff's Office was dispatched around 7:45 p.m. for a water rescue. Three children and one adult were reportedly in the water in distress.
While en route, deputies were informed the children had been safely brought to shore, but the 36-year-old woman had been pulled from the water and was unresponsive.
Medical personnel performed life-saving measures on the woman, but she was later pronounced dead.
Deputies were assisted at the scene by Forsyth Fire and EMS, UPHS EMS, and Guardian Flight.
