Medical condition to blame for Iron Mountain accident, police say

IRON MOUNTAIN, MI— Officials say a medical condition afflicting the driver is the cause of a crash in Iron Mountain Wednesday.

WLUC-TV says shortly after noon, Iron Mountain Police and Fire were dispatched to the area of Stephenson Avenue and Ludington Street. A vehicle struck concrete flower pots on the sidewalk and continued driving along the sidewalk south of Brown Street to Ludington, where it hit a fire hydrant and a building at the corner.

According to witnesses, the driver was unconscious. They were taken to Marshfield Dickinson Hospital and remain in stable condition.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
