Tilden Township crash on Sunday downs power lines

TILDEN TOWNSHIP, MI— Only minor injuries were reported in a single-vehicle crash in Tilden Township Sunday.

The Marquette County Sheriff’s Office says it happened around 4:52 p.m. on County Road 581 near County Road 482. The vehicle hit a utility pole, which caused power lines to fall.

A 33-year-old Marquette man was the driver of the vehicle. He was not injured. His juvenile passenger sustained minor injuries.

No other vehicles were involved in the accident.

Speed is believed to be a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation.

County Road 581 between County Road 482 and County Road PPH was closed for several hours while crews repaired the downed lines.

Deputies were assisted at the scene by the Ishpeming Police Department, Ishpeming Township Fire Department, UPHS-Bell EMS, UPPCO, and Antilla’s Towing.
