Officials investigating body that washed up near Miner's Beach in Alger County

MUNISING, MI— Michigan State Police from the Negaunee Post are trying to identify a body that washed ashore along Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore.

On Friday, hikers discovered a deceased body on the shoreline near Miner’s Beach and called 911.

Officials could not make a positive identification. State Police say further efforts are being made to ID the person.

Foul play is not suspected.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the MSP Negaunee Post at 906-475-9922.

MSP was assisted by the Alger County Sheriff’s Office and the National Park Service.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
