Houghton County snowmobile crash kills Wisconsin man

DUNCAN TOWNSHIP, MI— A Wisconsin man has been killed in a snowmobile crash in Houghton County.

The Houghton County Sheriff’s Office says it happened Sunday just before 5 p.m. on Trail 8 in Duncan Township. The crash occurred between M-38 and Kitchie Point Road.

A 63-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Sheriff’s deputies say speed and alcohol are believed to be factors in the crash.

Assisting at the scene were Michigan State Police, the Michigan Department of Natural Resources, the Duncan Township Fire Department, Bay Ambulance, and Dynamite Towing.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
