Man dies in vehicle-pedestrian accident in Menominee

MENOMINEE, MI— A pedestrian was killed in a Menominee traffic crash on Thursday.

City Police were called just after 7 p.m. to 10th Street and 38th Avenue. They say Kenneth Smith, 74, sustained fatal injuries as the result of a collision.

No other information is available at this time.

The accident remains under investigation by the Menominee City Police Department and the Michigan State Police Accident Investigation Division.

Also assisting in the incident were members of the Menominee City Fire Department, paramedics with Aurora-Bay Area, Marinette ERS, and the Menominee County Sheriff’s Department Auxiliary, and Menominee County 911 dispatchers.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
