Escanaba crash claims 2 lives, injures 4 others

ESCANABA, MI— Two people were killed in an Escanaba traffic crash Thursday afternoon.

The Escanaba Public Safety Department says it happened around 1:20 p.m. at the intersection of North Lincoln Road and Danforth Road.

A southbound Dodge Ram truck pulling a snowmobile trailer struck a Subaru attempting to turn westbound onto Danforth Road. The Subaru’s driver and passenger had to be extricated using the Jaws of Life. They were pronounced dead at the scene.

The four occupants of the Ram truck were able to get out of the vehicle on their own. They were taken to St. Francis Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The names of the victims are being withheld, pending notification of family. The accident remains under investigation.

Public Safety was assisted by the Michigan State Police Accident Reconstruction Unit out of the Gladstone Post, the Delta County Sheriff’s Office, Rampart, Delta County Central Dispatch, and Gene’s Towing.

Public Safety and all personnel involved would like to offer their condolences to the families of those who lost their loved ones.
